Paper Pumpkins

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Hi Everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Holiday this week! We have been so busy celebrating Thanksgiving, my birthday, and my father-in-laws birthday that I haven’t had time to breathe…LOL

Stampin' Up! Paper PumpkinI want to share with you one of the projects I did with my kids on Thanksgiving Day. While we were waiting for Tom Turkey to finish cooking, the girls made pumpkin centerpieces for the dinner table. With adult help and some pre-cutting and setting up, this project can be done with children ages 5+. This project can also be adapted for other Holidays by using different designer paper or adding ribbon to make it a hanging ornament.

For the pumpkins, I pre-cut 11- 1″x 8.5″ strips of Pumpkin Pie Card Stock. The kids used the acorns wheel (retired) and VersaMark Ink to add designs to the Card Stock strips. I punched holes on both ends of the card stock strips. The kids added one brad through the entire stack of strips on both ends. Now the pumpkin can be created by fanning out the strips one at a time.

Stampin' Up! Paper PumpkinThe leaves are fun to make. fold a piece of scrap old olive card stock and cut out half of a leaf shape on the folded edge (when you open it up, it will look like a leaf). Keeping the leaf folded, run it through the paper crimper.

The vines were also made with a scrap piece of card stock wheeled with VersaMark on both sides and coiled around a pencil.

The “Happy Thanksgiving” banner was stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink on a scrap piece of Confetti White Card stock.

The leaves, vines, and banner were layered on top of one another with dimensionals and mini-glue dots. The trick to being able to fold it back up and store it year after year is attaching them to the top paper strip on the pumpkin, right next to the brad. If you attach them to any of the other paper strips, you won’t be able to fold it up again.

That covers it! I hope you try it, my kids loved it and everyone was very impressed that they looked so great. This is a fun and easy project for adults too. Christmas is coming and these would make great Christmas ornaments if you added ribbon and cut the paper strips a little smaller.

I will work on a tutorial for that! My birthday present this year was a new Kodak Digital camera. I am trying to figure out how to make video tutorials!

STAMPS: Acorn Wheel (retired)
INK: VersaMark
PAPER: Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, and Confetti White Card Stock
ACCESSORIES: Paper Crimper, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Brads, 1/16″ circle punch, scissors, pencil

A Lovely Wedding

Posted by: | Comments (0)

November WeddingErin’s (my sister-in-law) wedding was last weekend, and everything about it was so beautiful! The kids had a wonderful time, we had a wonderful time, the whole family was together. It did rain all day, but everything else was so wonderful we hardly noticed the rain.

Erin was the first Bride in history to be early for everything! She was early to get dressed, pictures were done early, we arrived at the church 15 minutes early, at the reception 45 minutes early, and started the reception early!! I have to say that made for a very relaxing day for everyone. I really appreciated that with having the three kids there. I snapped the picture of Emma and Kevin in the doorway. Kevin was watching the rain and Em was watching Auntie Erin have her pictures taken.

November WeddingThe kids were so well behaved, everyone noticed. Kevin wasn’t very crazy about being in the monkey suit at first, but by the time we got to the church he got over it. He wouldn’t take any pictures for the photographer before the ceremony, and as you can see he wouldn’t take any for me in the limo either. LOL!

In the LimoI didn’t get any pictures of the ceremony because we were all in the wedding. But trust me the ceremony was beautiful. The kids truly enjoyed the limo ride. We let them drink water out of the champagne glasses for the toast! Kaitlin was in charge of handing out the champagne glasses.

Sleeping in the LimoKevin fell asleep as soon as we drove up to the Reception. I mean his eyelids closed at the exact same time someone said “We’re here!”

I usually take a ton of pictures at family weddings, but I guess it makes a big difference when you have three kids and you are all in the wedding party. I did snap a good one of Erin with her dad. Sorry, none of the bride with the groom. I didn’t even get one of my husband, and he looked so great too! I can’t wait to see the pictures everyone else took.

I know this wasn’t a stamping related post, but I hope you enjoyed the pics. Thank you for letting me share this with you!

Merry and Bright Christmas

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Stampin' Up! Merry and BrightHi Everyone! Today I completed my last scheduled Christmas Card Class. Do you believe it? Thanksgiving isn’t here yet and most of my customers are all done with Christmas cards. I wish I could say the same for me! LOL!

This is a card we made at the first Stamp-a-Stack in September. “Merry and Bright” is one of my favorite Winter stamp sets! Isn’t the little snowman so stinkin’ cute? :)

Details, Details, Details….

The Card Base is Real Red Card stock random stamped with snowflakes using Whisper White Craft Ink. (The Craft Ink takes a little while to dry, so after stamping you can hit it with the heat tool or just set it aside while you complete the rest of the card.)

The little guy is stamped with Basic Black Classic Ink and his scarf and hat are both colored in with a Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker. His carrot nose is colored with a Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write Marker. Did I ever tell you that I LOVE the circle punches and Scallop Circle Punch? They are so easy to use to create a focal point and I use them together all the time. I used the 1 1/4″ circle punch for the little guy, 1 3/8″ circle punch for the Real Red Layer, and the Scallop Circle Punch for the outer Whisper White Layer. I used the Paper Piercing Tool (from the Crafter’s Tool Kit) to punch a hole in each scallop. ****Punch Tip – Stamp your image first.Flip the punch over so you are looking at the bottom. Insert paper so you can center the image in the bottom of the punch and then punch away!****

I attached the scallop circle to the card front with Dimensionals. Black Gingham Ribbon was tied around the front and the greeting is from the Warm Words Stamp Set and stamped with Basic Black Ink.

This would be a very simple card to create for your Christmas Cards this year. For your convenience I will be adding a shopping list to the bottom of each of my Christmas card samples. You can order right online by clicking on the link at the top of this page.
