National Scrapbooking Month
Posted by: | CommentsHi Everyone! I am so happy to be posting again! I bet you have been wondering where I have been?
Well, I am happy to share that my business has been thriving. Over the past month I have had a minimum of 2 events per week, so that has been keeping me busy. Other than that, at the end of March I had a lot of problems with my cable Internet service and also my computer. There was one week where I didn’t have phone or Internet service 4 out of 5 days!! And when my Internet was working, my computer was running so slow that it took forever for me to edit photos and post them here. Needless to say during that time I wasn’t a very happy person. LOL! SO, what did I do…
I changed my Internet, phone, and cable service over to Verizon and Direct TV, and purchased a new DELL for my business. Now I am a much happier person!!! It took a lot of work over the past few weeks to change contact information, transfer files from one computer to the next, and learn how to use the new software on this computer. Not to mention troubleshooting Windows Vista for the past few weeks!! But, here I am and I have SO much to share with you!
I thought I would start with projects you can create using a Simply Scrappin’ Kit, in honor of National Scrapbooking Month! If you haven’t purchased a SU! Scrappin’ Kit yet, you won’t believe how many projects you can create with one kit and still have a TON left over. The projects in the post were all created with the “Summer Days” Simply Scrappin’ Kit and can easily be adapted for any Kit in the current catalog. I wish I could take all the credit for the projects you are about to see, but they are projects that I made at a recent upline demo meeting with Amy Czuba. Our group is filled with so many talented women and I appreciate everything they do to create projects like the ones below.
Binder Clip with Photo Mat Frame
This is great for the office! Sorry, I wasn’t able to add a picture because I am out of photo paper at the moment.
Cover a 4″ chipboard coaster(you can also cut down the chipboard piece that is in each pack of Designer Series Paper) with 2 pieces of 4″x4″ designer series paper (DSP). Round the corners using the “Corner Rounder” punch. Sand the edges if necessary. Attach a Self-adhesive Die Cut to the top corner and use the “Embossing Buddy” to eliminate the stickiness from the back of the Die Cut. Cut one piece of striped DSP (2″x3 1/4″) and adhere it to the binder clip with “Sticky Strip”.Tie a piece of Real Red Wide Grosgrain Ribbon to the clip. Then you are ready to add your photo. It would look great if you matted the photo with Whisper White and Real Red Card stock.
Set of 8 Gift Cards
Take one sheet of Real Red Textured card stock and cut into 8 pieces (6″x3″). Fold each piece in half to create a 3″x3″ card. Take striped DSP and cut into 8 pieces that are 2 3/4″ square. Fold back one side 1/2″ and adhere this flap down with SNAIL.Using Bashful Blue card stock, punch out 8 circles with 3/4″ punch and add die cut circles to each one. Attach each circle to the DSP with a silver brad. Adhere DSP to Real Red card stock. Greetings are stamped with “Fundamental Phrases” stamp set using Basic Black Classic Ink.
How quick and easy was that!!!
Lazy Summer Days Mini Scrapbook
I received a scrapbook likes this last year at Convention and it is SO CUTE. It is also a lot easier to make than I thought!
Cut 6 pieces (4″x8″) of Bashful Blue textured card stock. Score one of the pieces every inch (starting at short side), then fold this piece up like an accordion. Place accordion fold on the table like a “W” with the ends pointed up. Fold all other pieces of Bashful Blue Card stock in half.
Take each folded piece of card stock and adhere with snail to the accordion piece. Create photo mats by cutting textured card stock into 3 1/2″ squares. You will need:
- 2 Wild Wasabi
- 3 Real Red
- 3 Pumpkin Pie
Then adhere them to the inside pages of your mini scrapbook. Adhere Wild wasabi Striped Grosgrain Ribbon to the front of the scrapbook with a little SNAIL and wrap around the back. Decorate the front with Die Cuts (use dimensionals if you like) and tie the ribbon in a bow to close your scrapbook. Again, I didn’t add my photos yet due to lack of photo paper.
I love that this set uses up entire pieces of 12×12 card stock!
Take one piece of 12×12 Wild Wasabi and cut it into 4 strips 3″x12″ long. Fold each in half to create 4 “Long Notes”. Do the same with a piece of 12″x12″ Pumpkin Pie. You now have 8 “Long Notes” to decorate. Take one Die Cut sheet with the border strips. Cut the border strips away from other Die Cuts. Then cut the border strips in half at 6″. Decorate the 8 “Long Notes” with the border strips and some Die Cut Flowers. Stamp each card with desired greetings. The stamp set used here was “Sincere Salutations” using Real Red Classic Ink.
Choose a piece of 12″x12″ DSP from the Scrappin’ Kit. Score DSP at 1 3/4″, 2″, 10 1/2″, and 10 3/4″. Turn DSP one quarter and score at 3″, 3 1/4″, 8 3/4″, and 9″. Cut out each corner at inside score line. Use “Corner Rounder” punch on all outside corners. Fold at each score line using your Bone Folder. Place “Sticky Strip” on inside of one long edge(make sure to place right on edge of paper). Fold up bottom edge and place small piece of “Sticky Strip”. Remove backing to all “Sticky Strip” and fold side edges to center, over bottom edge, to adhere. Top flap has no adhesive. Stamp “cards” with Wild Wasabi Ink on 3 3/4″ square of Whisper White Card Stock. Mat with 4″ square of Bashful Blue Card Stock. Wrap this with Pumpkin Pie Striped grosgrain ribbon and knot. Decorate with Die Cuts and adhere to front of envelope with dimensionals. How cute!!
I hope you have enjoyed this post! Who would have thought you could do ALL this with ONE Simply Scrappin’ Kit and still have half the kit left over!
Now that I have learned to use my photo editing software (pretty much!) and this new computer, I will be posting more often. Happy Stamping!
