Quick Heartfelt Thanks

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Stampin' up! Heartfelt ThanksThere is not another stamp set I have ever owned that I have used more than this one for cardmaking! You can use this stamp set for almost any occasion, when paired with the right greeting set.

This is a card I have been using lately for both workshops and my own personal use as well. I make several of these and just leave the greeting on the front blank. When I need a quick card I stamp the greeting and off I go!!

The card base is River Rock Card Stock. I wheeled across the top half of the card using the “Petals” wheel and VersaMark Ink. The greeting is stamped in Old Olive.

Stampin' UP! Heartfelt ThanksAlthough it may look like I tied the ribbon, oh so carefully around the front of this card, if you look closely you will see that I didn’t. First, I cut a length of ribbon slightly larger than the front of my card. Then I took a smaller piece of ribbon (approx. 6 inches) and tied one knot around the longer piece of ribbon. Adhere the long ribbon to the front of the card using snail adhesive, making sure to add adhesive all the way to the edges. Trim the excess ribbon off each end with Snips or the scissors tool on the Cutter Kit. Last, trim up the ends of your shorter piece of ribbon so they look pretty!

This is not only easier than tying your ribbon around the card front, but also saves you a ton of ribbon!!

Stampin' Up! Heartfelt ThanksI usually use markers to color this flower image. But, since there aren’t any markers for the In Colors, I used the River Rock and Groovy Guava Ink Pads to color it in. The flower is stamped on Very Vanilla Card Stock and Layered over Groovy Guava. The edges of Very Vanilla are sponged with Groovy Guava Classic Ink. The corners of both layers are punched out with the Ticket corner punch. The main image is then adhered to the card front with Dimensionals.

Happy Stamping!

Holiday Weekend and Some Time Off!

Posted by: | Comments (0)

I just wanted to send a quick post to let you all know that I am taking a few more days off. I wasn’t able to post all week because my “New” laptop was getting repaired. They had to replace the motherboard and everything! That was finally completed yesterday afternoon. But, you are never going to believe the day I had yesterday! With everything that happened it felt like a week, not a day. It is so ridiculous I have to tell you!

My oldest daughter Kaitlin woke up with Poison Ivy all over her face to the point that both eyes were almost swollen shut. So, I had to bring her to the doctor after bringing Emma to school. My husband is home with the computer guy who is fixing my laptop. The doctor gave her Prednisone and we left the office to go home and pick up Emma. On the way home my car died. On the Mass Turnpike, no less! Not only on the pike, but smack dab in the middle of the entrance to the service center, where hundreds of cars are trying to get off the pike fo gas and food. And do you think anyone stopped to try and help me move the car? NOT ONE!! I thought we were going to get hit, but everyone managed to get around us. SO, my husband has to go pick up Emma, calls a towing company, and he meets us at the car dealership. Then on the way home we find out his grandfather is in the hospital. We get home and everything seems OK. Then…Before bedtime I turned on the desktop computer for my kids to play for a little while and I have a computer virus!!! Do you believe it? Well, it gets better. I have to call NORTON and pay $99 for them to remove the virus. Several different people worked on my computer from 7:30 PM-2:00AM. Then I went to bed thinking everything is OK. WRONG. The virus is back in the morning when I run a scan on the computer. Several more people worked on my computer until 6PM tonight and finally the virus is gone!! But, needless to say I am ALL DONE with both computers for a couple of days!! I don’t even want to look at a computer right now! I think I am just going to go do a little stamping therapy.

Oh and the links for the mini scrapbook class above are not working, so until Tuesday when I get back on the computer again to fix that, you can email meto register for the class locally and for the class to go.

Thank you for your understanding! Enjoy the beautiful weather and have a wonderful holiday weekend!

Happy Stamping!

Happy Mother’s Day

Posted by: | Comments (0)

I hope you are all having a wonderful day! It is beautiful outside here in Brimfield, can’t think of more perfect weather for Mother’s Day. The sun is shining, no rain!

Each year for Mother’s Day I usually want to plant flowers with the kids. We even started seedlings inside a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, I hurt my back somehow and am stuck on the couch watching the kids play until daddy gets home from work. No planting flowers for me today :(

So, to take advantage of my time on the couch, I am posting some pictures from last month’s card class in Belchertown, MA.

Stampin' up! Pretties KitHere is a very simple Mother’s Day card I used to demonstrate Pretties Kit Flowers, and Embossing. The card base is Whisper White layered with Pretty in Pink Prints Designer Series Paper(DSP).This color DSP is from the Level 1 hostess Prints Pack. “Happy Mother’s Day” (All Holidays stamp set page 146) was stamped onto the DSP with VersaMark and then Heat Embossed with White EP.

*TIP – Make sure to use your embossing buddy before embossing on DSP. This will prevent the embossing powder sticking where you don’t want it to. And just so you know you can’t wipe off the powder, use the embossing buddy, and then try again. It doesn’t work very well, and you end up with embossed speckles around your greeting. Trust me, that is why you don’t see a close up of the embossing on this card! LOL! : )

Stampin' Up! Pretties KitNow onto the FUN part…PRETTIES!! Did you know that you can dye the white Pretties Flowers ANY color you want using different methods? Well, now you do and I am going to show you two ways right now! The large flower is stamped with Pretty in Pink Classic Ink using the “Itty Bitty Backgrounds” stamp set (page 110). Just stamp and let dry! The small flower was dyed with Pastels! Use a sponge dauber to apply dry pastels to your flower. With just your pastels and a Pretties Kit you can have 50 flowers colored with any of the 48 SU! colors to coordinate with any project! How cool is that?

The flowers are attached to the card with a Clear Rhinestone Brad (Also in the Pretties Kit!)

Here is what everyone else did with the same materials:

Stampin' up! Pretties Birthday

Stampin' Up! Pretties Kit Congratulations

Stampin' UP! Pretties Kit Mothers Day

Stampin' Up! Pretties Kit Mothers day

I loved the cards they made!

If you have purchased a Pretties Kit from me and would like to know some other ways you can dye your flowers, please contact me. I am putting together a Tip Sheet for the Pretties Kit and would be more than happy to share it with you!

OR…if you would like to order your own Pretties kit, or any other items in the SU! catalogs you can contact me to place your order. Your order can be shipped directly to your door, anywhere in the US.

Happy Mother’s Day and Happy Stamping! : )
