I am a little late this week posting the Monday Try A New Technique Challenge from Splitcoast. I have been fighting off this cold and it is taking a lot out of me. But I did want to try this challenge the other day. I thought it was so cool!

The Challenge (TLC153) was to make a card using the Dahlia Fold. You can find the Dahlia Fold Instructions Here.

I haven’t decided if I truly like the card, but I really love how the flower came out. The Dahlia is made up of 8 (Fall Flowers Designer Series Paper) circles. The circles are folded (see tutorial link above). I then took an extra circle and added snail to it. This is the base of my flower. I took each of the 8 sections and adhered them to the base. I attached a rhinestone brad to the center of the flower for a little extra “bling”. The flower is attached to the card with dimensionals. I can’t believe how you can get 8 circles to look like a dahlia!

The ribbon is actually Whisper White Grosgrain, dyed with a Really Rust Marker and heat set with the Heat Gun. And if you look at the sentiment, I was finally able to play with my new rub-ons!

I really like how the dahlia looks, but I sure wouldn’t use it for every card, it does take a little while to make. However, this is a good way to utilize those scraps from your Designer Series Paper. Hey, I just realized that there is no stamping on this card! I think that is a first for me!

On a regular basis I get together with a wonderful group of women in Belchertown, Massachusetts. I plan a card class for them, and they also invite some friends to try out stamping “workshop style”. This month they had a GREAT turn out! I believe there were 15 or more. Everyone seemed to have a really great time.

One of the things I enjoy about these women is that they really enjoy stamping and creating their own cards. This month was no different. Every single card they made was a little different than the rest. It is so much fun for me to see what they come up with. I bring cards that I have designed. I provide them with the same stamps, same ink, and the paper is even pre-cut, and they still come up with the coolest cards!

So I made my first “Scrapblog”. I went to www.scrapblog.com and made scrapbook pages to post here. I thought this would be a cool way to display the pictures I took at this event. Now I will remind you that this is my first time making one of these so it may not be that good, LOL! View at your own risk…..

I know there aren’t many pictures. I was a little busy that day, so I couldn’t take pictures of everyone or every card, although I wanted to. But at least I took some pictures this time!

Wow! I can’t believe it has been almost a week since I have posted! We have been all taking turns getting sick this week. Now it is my turn! Hopefully I will fight it off! I haven’t done much stamping this week and I feel like I am in withdrawal!

Anyway, I wanted to share with you what I am planning to make with my daughters for school Valentines this year. We are making Lollipop Holders out of Stampin’ Up! “Pocket Notes“. This has to be one of the easiest kids projects ever! And they look so cute!

The Pocket Notes come in an assortment of 30 notes (10 of each color that you see here…Confetti White, Real Red, and Taken with Teal) and white envelopes . I used the Happy Heart Day stamp set that I received in my Valentine Bundle and the Holidays and Wishes stamp set. I also used a little ribbon and various punches to complete the embellishments on the lollipop holders. The hole was punched using the 3/16″ punch on the Crop-A-Dile. What do you think?

My girls are 5 and 6. The only part they might need help with is a little extra strength for the scallop punch. Other than that they can color the images however they want with their Stampin’ Kids Markers. Oh, they will need a little help tying the ribbon too.
